“VOCALIST” series has begun in the casual conversation with a record maker president, however I feel that my sense of responsibility to sing cover songs has been increased each time.
For example, when we record an original music, we sometime make a record based on electronic musical instruments but VOCALIST series doesn’t use it at all.
And it is our (including an arranger, Masayuki Sakamoto and all the staff involved in VOCALIST series) rule to cover these great songs.
We remember that we felt “respectful dedication” when we were tuning with piano for “VOCALIST 1” and it means, we felt anew to re-record such ageless songs!
Honestly, it is not easy to make VOCALIST series compared with original one.
Because their melody was not make from my DNA and we had to fight with subdivision or rhythm.
I have been thinking “VOCALIST 4”; female Japanese pop songs covered album would be the last one of the series with these reasons above. But on the other hand, I have been having passion to sing “Sayonara no mukougawa” of Momoe Yamaguchi, which has been a candidate song from the beginning of this series.
I’ve been removed this song from a list because I’ve been thought this song has been really special one for their fan. But meantime, I’ve thought that special feeling appeared when I’ve tuned the song with a piano…
Winds blew through me and invited me to the distant light with very sweet and warm feeling.
So I decided to release “VOCALIST 6” because many people could fell that winds, too.
“VOCALIST 6” is my best work of the series.
Hoping this album bring you a healing power and make your feel warm.
